Course description

Introduction

Kalmer Counselling know that school staff seeing and knowing children are using self-harm as a coping strategy of feeling like they no longer want to live can be very worrying. We can feel out of our depth and not equipped enough to support the children we work with. This training will help to support you, build your confidence and educate you in the best approaches to use when working with children and young people who are struggling.

This training is suitable for:

  • Designated safeguarding leads
  • Teachers, pastoral staff
  • Support staff, teaching assistants
  • School outreach workers

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  • Understand more about self-harm and suicide
  • Be aware of the hard-hitting statistics and explore the general risk factors
  • Exploring different interventions and strategies to support these children
  • Discuss ways in which we can talk about self-harm and suicidal ideation

What our clients say

Been having first aid training for 13 years. This was the best one I've attended. Far more informative and covered more likely scenarios that would happen in the school setting

I feel this course has been better than previous first aid courses I've completed. More focus on the types of injuries that we would likely treat in our role
