Introduction
This course aims to equip delegates with the knowledge and skills to help deter and prevent the appointment of unsuitable people working in organisations that support and provide services to children and young people. The course is fully accredited through the Safer Recruitment Consortium.
Attendees: This training is suitable for
- Managers, directors, board members and any staff who have responsibility for any aspect of recruitment and selection to roles which have contact with children and young people
Learning outcomes:
- Identify the key features of staff recruitment that help deter or prevent the appointment of unsuitable people
- Background and context to safer recruitment
- Consider policies and practices that minimise opportunities for abuse or ensure prompt reporting
- Help participants begin to review their policies and practices in recruitment with a review of creating a safer culture
Delegates will undertake short informal/group assessments during the day to reinforce learning and key messages. They will have the opportunity to share practice, explore case examples with colleagues, ask questions and consider ways in which practices within the setting can be further strengthened
