Course Description
Introduction
As part of the Clennell school Service Level Agreement, we are offering 6 hours of Kalmer Counselling, which is an accredited service with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)
Kalmer Counselling is a leading North-east counselling service who have been providing SLA's to schools for the past 15 years. They believe that the alliance is the essential aspect in all of their therapeutic and professional relationships. All of their qualified counsellors value the benefits and highly advocate, working as a part of the multi-disciplinary team, while seeking to enhance a strong framework with other lead professionals within mental health and education
Their team of counsellors have extensive training backgrounds and experience with a core range of theories which are adapted and best suited to a child and young person's needs.
They work with a wide range of issues for e.g. self-esteem, grief and loss, anger, low mood, anxiety, depression, transition, neurodivergence, trauma, self-harm, looked-after and adopted children.
Predominantly, they can work with any issue that is negatively affecting an individual's mental health and wellbeing.
A recent school survey by the BACP concluded that:
- 9 out of 10 school staff feel children's education is suffering due to a lack of mental health support
- The most common mental health problems among pupils are emotional disorders, including anxiety and depression
- More than 90% of school staff agree that the need for school counselling has risen since the pandemic
